Andy Tsz Chiu Chan

No more fitness information overload

Andy’s childhood dream was to become a professional footballer (soccer). He worked inside the gym to become physically fitter.

In 2014, the chance came and he was given a trial with a Hong Kong professional team I-Sky Yuen Long FC. One day, as the team was doing some agility drills, the fitness coach pulled Andy aside and asked: “Andy, why do you turn with your arms sticking out to the sides when changing directions? Why are you so stiff?”. That was the moment where Andy realized what he was doing inside the gym did not translate to better performance outside the gym. Today, he does everything he can to ensure that everyone he works with trains in a way that actually helps their performance.

Avis Li

Internal health is important

At the end of a year where she won three bodybuilding competitions, Avis was shining on stage with her lean and well balanced bikini physique. Yet off the stage, she was sick and tired of eating chicken and fish, and was experiencing aches and pain in different body parts.

Since then, she began her quest in studying kinesiology and corrective exercise. After learning with her mentor Lok Chau, her biggest takeaway from her newfound area is that when different joints and muscles are aligned and working properly, a heavy squat would feel better than a squat with just one’s bodyweight. Dump the ‘no pain no gain’ mentality. Focus on internal health just as you focus on shaping the body’s external looks.

Jackeline Cheung

Training cannot be boring!

Jackeline used to do one-hour of core training plus one-hour of cardio every day in hopes of achieving a better physique. But even with the impressive amount of discipline, she did not get the results she wanted – and training was boring.

Upon training and studying with her mentor Happy Ma, she learned that training is not limited to core and cardio. Every individual must have a comprehensive plan that includes core, resistance, cardio, and many more if they want to reach their goals effectively. Nowadays, designing and implementing those plans is her passion.

Olmen Chu

Strengthen the body for better yoga

While studying for the National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer program, Olmen found herself on the verge of quitting. She was already an established yoga teacher and a Lululemon ambassador.

Why the pain of going through all the studying again? But as she continued to teach yoga, she slowly realized that some clients had trouble getting into certain yoga poses. The inability to do certain poses was indicative of an underlying muscle imbalance. Therefore, strength training was a perfect complement to yoga training. Now, as she works with her clients, she will often suggest strengthening areas of need. The pain of studying was worth it!

Onna Lau

Everyone deserves to have a plan

Onna started training out of curiosity. She had a trainer for 7 years. They would work on different body parts with a different routine every session. Since this was her first and only trainer, Onna did not question the sessions.

A few years ago, she decide to enroll in fitness education courses to further her own learning. She realised that her trainer did not have a plan for her nor their sessions After devising a plan for herself, she went from hip thrusting 40kg to 100kg in 5 months She now makes a plan for all of her clients, each of whom
deserves to have their own structured plan where they can track progress.
